Council to take action on Ordinance No. 30-25 approving the transfer of certain rights-of-way and
roadways generally located along Watkins Street from the east right of way of South Miller Road, east
approximately 625 feet.
SUMMARY
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The City of Buckeye ("City") is the applicant for this annexation request. The purpose of this request is to
annex from Maricopa County's jurisdiction a segment of Watkins Street, lying east of Miller Road. This
will allow development to complete the required roadway and infrastructure improvements.  Specifically
with regard to a roadway, A.R.S. Section 9-471(O) allows for an abbreviated annexation procedure by
mutual consent of the governing bodies of the county and a municipality if the property transferred is
adjacent to the receiving city or town and if each governing body approves the proposed transfer as a
published agenda item at a regular public meeting of their governing bodies.
BENEFITS:
This annexation and construction of street improvements by the developer will improve traffic circulation
in the vicinity of the project site. Also annexing this area will avoid any challenges for the City concerning
review submittals with the City and construction of this corridor.
FUTURE ACTION:
Upon approval by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, the Ordinance with legal descriptions will
be recorded with the Maricopa County Recorder's Office.
