RESOLUTION NO. 91-25 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 
BUCKEYE, ARIZONA, APPROVING UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF 
JUSTICE (DOJ) OFFICE OF COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING (COPS 
OFFICE) FY25 COPS HIRING PROGRAM GRANT AWARD; AUTHORIZING 
THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT AND DELIVER SAID GRANT ON BEHALF 
OF THE CITY AND APPROVING THE CREATION OF FOUR NEW LAW 
ENFORCEMENT OFFER POSITIONS. 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Buckeye Police Department (“BPD”) seeks to hire and/or rehire 
career law enforcement officers, in its effort to increase community policing capacity and crime 
prevention efforts; and 
 
WHEREAS, the proposed FY25 COPS Hiring Program grant project provides funding to 
law enforcement agencies to hire and/or rehire additional career law enforcement officers in an 
effort to increase their community policing capacity and crime prevention efforts, including 
engagement in planned community partnerships, implementation of projects to analyze and 
assess problems, and implementation of changes to personnel and agency management in 
support of community policing; and 
 
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice (“DOJ”) Office of Community 
Oriented Policing Services has approved the City’s FY25 COPS Hiring Program grant 
application, awarding a grant in the amount of $500,000. 
 
BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the City of Buckeye, Arizona, as follows: 
 
Section 1. 
The recitals above are hereby incorporated as if fully set forth herein.   
 
Section 2. 
That certain Grant award in the amount of $500,000.00, by and between 
the City of Buckeye and the DOJ, is hereby approved in substantially the form and substance on 
file with the City Clerk and is incorporated herein by reference. 
 
Section 3. 
The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept the Grant on behalf of the 
City; further, the Mayor, City Manager, City Attorney, and City Clerk are hereby authorized and 
directed to execute all documents and other necessary or desirable instruments and to take all 
steps necessary to carry out the purpose and intent of this Resolution. 
 
Section 4. 
The City Manager is authorized to create up to four new law enforcement 
officer positions in the BPD to assist in fulfilling the Grant objectives.
