Project Description  
 
The City of Buckeye Council has previously approved the $605,413 grant award from the Community 
Development Block Grant through Maricopa County to pave downtown Buckeye’s 10th Street and 
Alleyways. Amendment #1 increases the award amount from $605,413.00 to $634,983.25. The 
improvements will reduce dust emissions and sediment loading onto alleyways, roadways, and 
stormwater retention basins by installing asphalt paving, sidewalks, landscaping, lighting, utility 
adjustments, and a storm drain system.

Financial Impact Statement  
 
The Federal grant portion is $634,983.25, with $0 match from the City of Buckeye.  Any additional 
expenses in excess of $634,983.25 will need to be paid by the City of Buckeye. Additionally, any required 
maintenance will also become a part of Buckeye’s Public Works Department’s annual budget.

Objectives and Expected Outcomes

The approval of Amendment #1 will ensure all project costs are covered by the grant, mitigating the need 
to utilize general funds to pave downtown Buckeye’s 10th Street and Alleyways to reduce dust emissions 
and sediment loading onto alleyways, roadways, and stormwater retention basins by installing asphalt 
paving, sidewalks, landscaping, lighting, utility adjustments, and a storm drain system.
