Council to take on Ordinance No. 24-25 amending the Buckeye City Code by amending Chapter 5,
municipal Court Regulations, Article 5-5 - Home Detention/Electronic Monitoring Program, Section 5-5-1
Home Detention/Electronic Monitoring Program, to authorize a continuous monitoring program; providing
for the repeal of conflicting ordinances; and providing for severability.
SUMMARY
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The primary purpose of this proposed amendment is to empower the Buckeye Municipal Court to utilize
continuous alcohol monitoring technology. This will serve as an effective means to ensure compliance
with court orders related to alcohol abstinence, particularly for individuals facing charges or convictions
for driving under the influence (DUI) or other alcohol-related infractions. All associated costs of the CAM
program will be borne by the individual ordered to participate.
BENEFITS:
The continuous alcohol monitoring program benefits the Buckeye Municipal Court by offering a new tool
to manage alcohol-related offenses, ensuring compliance with abstinence orders, particularly for DUI
cases. It is cost-neutral for the city, as the participants cover all expenses. 
FINANCIAL IMPACT STATEMENT:
It is cost-neutral for the city, with all expenses paid by the participants.
