PRESS RELEASE May 17, 2025 Contact: William Kauppi, Chief Financial Officer 623-349-6161 TRUTH IN TAXATION (TNT) HEARING NOTICE OF TAX INCREASE In compliance with section 42-17107, Arizona Revised Statutes, the City of Buckeye is notifying its property taxpayers of the City of Buckeye’s intention to raise its primary property taxes over last year’s level. The City of Buckeye is proposing an increase in the primary property tax levy of $326,794 above the TNT levy amount or a 2.00% increase. The proposed tax increase will cause the City of Buckeye’s primary property taxes on a $100,000 home to be $160.04 (total proposed taxes including the tax increase). Without the proposed tax increase, the total taxes that would be owed on a $100,000 home would have been $156.90. This proposed tax is exclusive of increased primary property taxes received from new construction. The primary property tax is also exclusive of any changes that may occur from property tax levies for voter approved bonded indebtedness or budget and tax overrides. All interested citizens are invited to attend the public hearing on the tax increase that is scheduled to be held June 3, 2025, at 6:00 P.M., at the City of Buckeye City Hall located at 530 East Monroe Avenue, Arizona. It is the City Council’s position that the City’s primary property taxes on a $100,000 home will remain at $180.00 or less per year as it has the last 12 years. The Truth in Taxation Notice will be published on May 17th and May 24th in the Arizona Republic, West Valley Zone 5.
