ACTION/MOTION: (This language identifies the formal motion to be made by the Council) 
Council to take action on the Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Buckeye and the
Buckeye Elementary School District, relating to assignment and funding of school resource officers; and
authorizing the Mayor, City Manager and Police Chief to execute and deliver said Agreement and related
documents on behalf of the City of Buckeye.
SUMMARY
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The City of Buckeye (the “City”) and the District would like to enter into an agreement whereby the
Buckeye Police Department will provide sworn police officers to serve as school resource officers for the
Buckeye Elementary School District.
BENEFITS:
Having SROs at schools is beneficial for the safety of the students and faculty, as well as for the
education of the students, as SROs are required to meet a set amount of law-related education hours.
Additionally, having officers assigned to the School frees patrol officers from having to respond to the
School for a variety of calls for service. Finally, partnering with the District will result in reimbursable
salary savings for the Buckeye’s Police Department. 
FUTURE ACTION:
Once Council approves the Agreement, the City Clerk will forward the executed agreement to the Police
Department Professional Services Commander and copy the City of Buckeye Grants department. The
Commander will then forward the executed Agreement to the District for execution. The District has
reviewed the IGA and is in agreement with the terms and conditions. 
FINANCIAL IMPACT STATEMENT:
The District has funding available through the Arizona Department of Education School Safety Program
Grant to provide funding for two certified police officers capable of performing SRO Service for the
District. 
CURRENT FISCAL YEAR TOTAL COST:
The District agrees to pay the City $348,099.43 in consideration for the services provided by the City
under this Agreement. This amount is $174,049.72 for each of the two assigned police officers to the
District.
