Council to take action on the Cooperative Contract Purchase Addendum (CCPA) (Contract No. 2025229)
between the City of Buckeye, an Arizona municipal corporation, and The Sutphen Corporation, an Ohio
corporation, for the purchase and outfit of two heavy-duty rescue pumpers (fire trucks); and authorizing
the City Manager to execute and deliver the CCPA on behalf of the City of Buckeye.
SUMMARY
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Fleet Management is seeking approval to purchase two (2) Sutphen heavy-duty rescue pumpers, fire
trucks.  
BENEFITS:
The new pumper truck will provide mechanically sound heavy-duty rescue pumpers for the Fire
Department. Dependable fleet equipment is critical to ensure that the Fire Department is able to provide
critical services to the residents which can result in life-or-death situations. Without these vehicles,
reserve units would be deployed and these units are approaching 20 years old. Equipment progress in
their life expectancy, components become prone to increased breakdowns which increases the life cycle
maintenance cost while also experiencing increases to the downtime of the vehicle. Older vehicles are
more likely to incur major component failures such as engines or transmissions, and these types of
failures are not only expensive to the Fleet, but hinders staff's ability to provide services to the residents
in a timely manner and fulfilling the mission of the City.

FINANCIAL IMPACT STATEMENT:
Council to approve transfer of contingency appropriations not to exceed $2.4 million from Fund 6024 to
50222140-541210 for the Victory Engine and 10002140-541210 for the Floreo Engine.  The engine for
the Victory fire station will be paid by either general obligation bonds or impact fees.  The engine for the
Floreo will be paid for by the developer.
