ACTION/MOTION: (This language identifies the formal motion to be made by the Council) 
Council to take action on the Construction Contract (No. 32500004) between the City of Buckeye, an
Arizona municipal corporation, and AJP Electric, Inc., an Arizona corporation, related to the labor,
materials, equipment, and services required to complete the paving of 10th Street and Alleyways funded
under the Community Development Block Grant; authorize the City Manager to execute and deliver said
Contract on behalf of the City of Buckeye; and authorize and direct the Mayor, City Manager, City
Attorney, and City Clerk to take all steps necessary to carry out the purpose and intent of said Contract.
SUMMARY
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The City of Buckeye Council has previously approved the $605,413 grant award from the Community
Development Block Grant through Maricopa County to pave the Downtown Buckeye 10th Street and
Alleyways. The improvements will reduce dust emissions and sediment loading onto alleyways,
roadways, and stormwater retention basins by installing asphalt paving, sidewalks, landscaping, lighting,
utility adjustments, and a storm drain system. Substantial completion shall be achieved within 120
calendar days from the City of Buckeye's written Notice to Proceed. The contract price is $634,983.25
subject to increases and decreases for change orders. The Construction Contract was produced by the
City of Buckeye and its Legal Department.
BENEFITS:
The approval of this Construction Contract will allow AJP Electric, Inc. to commence work to pave the
downtown 10th Street and Alleyways to reduce dust emissions and sediment loading onto alleyways,
roadways, and stormwater retention basins by installing asphalt paving, sidewalks, landscaping, lighting,
utility adjustments, and a storm drain system. 
FUTURE ACTION:
No future action contemplated.
FINANCIAL IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Federal grant portion is $605,413. The contract price is $634,983.25, subject to increases and
decreases for change orders. Any change orders resulting in the total project cost to be in excess of
$605,413 will need to be paid by the City of Buckeye. Additionally, any required maintenance will also
become a part of Buckeye's Public Works Department's annual budget.
