ATTACHMENT D Program Information Summaries Recruitment Event On February 4, the Alhambra Elementary School District held its annual Passport to Kindergarten event. Head Start parents were able to register their current children for kindergarten. In addition, Head Start staff set up an information booth to recruit new students for the upcoming school year, resulting in 41 pre-registrations. Caseworker Training On February 5, the Head Start Birth to Five Dietitian conducted training for caseworker staff using a train-the-trainer approach. This will enable caseworker staff to effectively deliver training and share key information about food groups and portion sizes with families, helping them understand how portion sizes can influence whether children are underweight or overweight. Each child will also receive a plate and a cup for home use that illustrate portion sizes. Early Education Family Services Summit On February 19, the Early Education Division held its annual Family Services Summit for support staff at Desert Willow Conference Center. Staff participated in a full day of interactive workshops on Motivational Interviewing from Theory to Action, Mandated Reporter training from Childhelp, and documentation training from program staff. Social and Emotional Institute The Social Emotional Institute was held on February 25 as part of the annual training organized by the Head Start Birth to Five Mental Health Team. This event, attended by 365 participants, was designed to foster an engaging, collaborative environment where attendees could strengthen their understanding of social-emotional skills, staff wellness, and age-appropriate responsive practices.
