The Fleet Services and Energy Resources Departments and Procurement Services recommend authorizing the purchase using the Sourcewell cooperative contract with Global Rental Company, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $171,101, based on estimated requirements. Background / Discussion Energy Resources requires a replacement underground cable puller, as the existing unit has reached its end-of-life criteria and is recommended for retirement. A new cable puller is essential to ensure reliable underground electrical operations and to support ongoing utility construction and maintenance activities. This equipment is used daily to install electrical cable through underground conduit systems. Typical installations require between 5,000 and 10,000 pounds of pulling force to safely pull heavy cable through long conduit runs. The cable puller is a critical asset for maintaining efficient underground infrastructure and reducing the risk of cable damage, equipment failure, and project delays. The Sourcewell cooperative contract has been competitively bid and meets the City’s procurement requirements. Utilizing the Sourcewell contract allows the City to receive competitive rates based on a formally solicited agreement. The City believes the pricing is fair and reasonable and soliciting for this product and would not result in the City receiving more favorable pricing or terms.
