APPENDIX G Comparable Property in the West Second Street Historic District 136 W. 2nd Street, Mesa, AZ 85201 — Arched Porch Openings Appeal of Case ADM26-00657 | 260 N. Center Street, Mesa, AZ 85201 | Historic Preservation Board, September 1, 2026 The photograph below shows 136 W. 2nd Street, a contributing property in the same West Second Street Historic District as our home. The City's own West Second Street Contributing Property List classifies 136 W. 2nd Street as a Spanish Eclectic contributor (National Register ID 153, built 1940–1946). This home is located on the same street and is of the same era as our 1945 home at 260 N. Center Street. This contributing home features the exact softly rounded, arched porch openings we are proposing at 260 N. Center Street, and they are rendered in stucco — the same durable material we are using. The arched openings on this City-recognized contributing home are precisely the form and finish we wish to echo on our porch. This directly refutes any suggestion that a softly rounded porch opening is “conjectural” or out of character in this district: the City has already recognized a home bearing this very feature as contributing to the district's historic character. 136 W. 2nd Street, Mesa — photographed August 2026.
