When reviewed by the City, it was realized that leaving the curb and gutter in place would cause the new work to fail. The Tactile Directional Indicators (Item 28) and the Trapezoidal Warning Device (Item 29) were to be adhered to the existing sidewalk at the back of the curb. To ensure that the new work would be more compliant with the ADA standards, the existing sidewalk was removed, the warning devises were placed in the concrete, and this ensured a more even, safe, and traversable surface for pedestrians. Field Directive 01 was given to the contractor to make these changes. Items Added to Scope Three additional items are requested for this project to allow for safer and more efficient travel for the traveling public. e Wayfinding signs are shown in the final “For Construction” plans for the project. These signs did not have a line item in the bid documents. These signs will be placed along Frye Road to indicate the direction and distance for important locations from Frye Road. e The City will include trailhead signs at the beginning and end of the newly constructed section of Frye Road. The signs will have maps and information valuable to the path and bike lane users. The sign at the east end of the project will hold solar panels for one streetlight and the monument sign at the same location. e The City is adding LIDAR detection at the Frye/McQueen intersection and the Frye/Arizona intersection. Items Added to Scope The costs of the three additional items are requested for this project to allow for safer and more efficient travel for the traveling public are as follows. e Wayfinding signs — These signs have a proposed cost of $37,084.40 e Trailhead signs and Solar Power — The trailhead signs and solar power system have a proposed cost of $80,606.21 e LIDAR detection - Add a $75,000 allowance for the acquisition and installation of the systems. The net increase due to the additional scope amounts to $192,690.61.
