The Mesa Fire and Medical Department and Procurement Services recommend awarding the contract to the sole source vendor, Hughes Fire Equipment, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $475,000 annually, with an annual increase allowance of up to 5% or the adjusted Consumer Price Index. Background / Discussion The City currently has 45 Pierce Manufacturing units in its fleet. This contract will provide manufacturer-authorized parts, components, and repair services. The contractor will also perform specialized repairs, including major body and accident-related repairs, as needed. These services will address unexpected repairs requiring factory certification or specialized expertise that cannot be performed by City staff. Hughes Fire Equipment, Inc. is the exclusive dealer for the sale, service, parts, and warranty support of Pierce custom and commercial fire apparatus in several states, including Arizona. Hughes operates multiple service and warranty facilities, including a location in Phoenix.
