ITEM 6.c. TOWN OF FOUNTAIN HILLS STAFF REPORT Meeting Date: 10/6/2026 Meeting Type: Town Council Regular Meeting Submitting Department: Administration Prepared by: Hannah Martin, Executive Assistant Staff Contact Information: Phone: 480-816-5107 Email: hmartin@fountainhillsaz.gov Request to Town Council Regular Meeting (Agenda Language) PROCLAMATION: October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month Staff Summary (background) The Mayor and Town Council of Fountain Hills proclaim October 2026 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month—a time dedicated to promoting education, early detection, research, and support for those impacted by breast cancer. With 1 in 8 women in the U.S. expected to be diagnosed in their lifetime and over 320,000 new cases anticipated in 2026, raising awareness remains essential. Though less common, men are also affected by the disease. Early screening and timely treatment significantly improve survival rates, and today, more than 4 million breast cancer survivors live in the United States. This month brings communities together to honor those lost, stand with those currently facing the disease, celebrate survivors, and recognize the vital work of healthcare professionals and researchers. The Mayor and Town Council urge all residents to join in supporting the continued fight against breast cancer.
