RESOLUTION NO. R2026-044 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YUMA, ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING A LEASE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF YUMA AND YUMA PRIVATE INDUSTRY COUNCIL FOR USE OF THE DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER TO SERVE THE NEEDS OF CITIZENS, PARTICULARLY YOUTH, IN THE CARVER PARK NEIGHBORHOOD AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES WHEREAS, the City of Yuma constructed the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Neighborhood Center (Center) in part with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds; and, WHEREAS, CDBG funds require that the Center be used to serve the needs of the citizens of the City of Yuma; and, WHEREAS, the Yuma Private Industry Council (YPIC) has been leasing the Center since June 2013 and operating a One-Stop Youth Career Center, providing career and educational services to youth ages 14 to 26; and, WHEREAS, YPIC’s current lease term for the Center ended on June 30, 2026. The current lease allows for annual lease extensions with the concurrence of the City; and, WHEREAS, YPIC wishes to continue to lease the Center and continue to provide services to the community. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Yuma as follows: SECTION 1: The Lease Agreement, attached as Exhibit A and by this reference made a part of this Resolution, is approved for a term of one (1) year, with renewal for up to two additional, one-year terms, for the purpose of YPIC’s continued use of the Center as set forth in the Lease Agreement and attachments. SECTION 2: The City Administrator is authorized and directed to sign the attached Lease Agreement on behalf of the City of Yuma and may renew the Lease for up to two additional one-year terms.
