Apache Junction Parks and Recreation Fee Study 2026 Passes/ Programs/ Facility Rentals/ Park Rentals – October Presentation 2026 FEE STUDY BACKGROUND Arizona State Statute requires review of city fees every 5 years The Parks & Rec Department conducted the following public meetings: Feb. 4, 2026 - Parks and Rec Commission Introduction Mar. 4, 2026 - Parks and Rec Commission Presentation of market study April 1, 2026- Parks and Rec Commission Presentation of market study results April 7, 2026- City Council Presentation/Discussion May 6, 2026- Parks and Rec Commission presentation on recommended fees June 3,2026- Parks and Rec Commission approved recommendations of fee changes July 21 ,2026- City Council Presentation/Discussion Oct 6, 2026 - Public Hearing (posted July 23, 2026) 2026 FEE STUDY BACKGROUND PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT FEE PHILOSOPHY Free, universal access to facilities/events is made possible through the General fund (sales tax), grants, donations, and partnerships Exclusive use of facilities, individualized programming and memberships are funded through fees to offset operational costs Fee Recommendations are based on: General market comparison Demographics & affordability New amenity/service fee considerations EXISTING FEES - Recommended Changes: 10% Increase in MGC Memberships (daily passes remain the same). Membership fees have not increased at the MGC since 2010 Increase/Adjustment of rental fees to offset increased operational fees MGC Rental Fees Sports Fields Ramadas and Open Spaces Personnel Fees Alcohol Permit Single Day Rodeo Arena and Prep NEW FEES – Recommendations: Added fees for new amenities at the Rodeo and Event Center Pavillion Dry Camp Fees RV Space/Hook-up Fees Portable Stalls Stall Bedding NEXT STEPS Posting of recommended fee changes (July 23, 2026) Discussion and Public Hearing If approved, there will be a minimum 30 day waiting period New fees will go into effect January 1, 2027 Questions?
