RESOLUTION NO. 6046
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER,
ARIZONA, RETROACTIVELY AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO ENTER INTO
A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE FEDERAL AVIATION
ADMINISTRATION TO ACCEPT AN AIRPORT IMPROVEMENT GRANT IN
A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $118,750 FOR THE DESIGN OF
AIRFIELD ELECTRICAL IMPROVEMENTS AT THE CHANDLER
MUNICIPAL AIRPORT; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
SIGN ALL DOCUMENTS AND TAKE ALL ACTION NECESSARY TO CARRY
OUT THE PURPOSES OF THIS RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, the City of Chandler (the “City”) owns the Chandler Municipal Airport (the
“Airport”); and
WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration (the “FAA”) periodically provides funds to
municipal airport facilities through its grant programs; and
WHEREAS, the FAA requires the City, as the Airport Sponsor, to sign agreements accepting the
grants; and
WHEREAS, the City received a grant in a total amount not to exceed $118,750 for the design of
airfield electrical improvements, constituting 95% of the design cost with the remaining 5% match
anticipated to be split between the Arizona Department of Transportation and the City; and
WHEREAS, the FAA provided the grant document but required full execution before the end of
the federal fiscal year which did not allow enough time to obtain City Council approval at a
scheduled Council meeting; and
WHEREAS, to secure the FAA grant funding, the City executed the agreement, in a form approved
by the City Attorney, for an amount not to exceed $118,750 and is now seeking retroactive
approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona,
as follows:
Section 1. Retroactively authorizes the City of Chandler to accept FAA grant funding in an
amount not to exceed $118,750 for the design of airfield electrical improvements.
Section 2. Retroactively authorizes and directs the Mayor of the City of Chandler to execute
a grant agreement for the design of electrical improvements in an amount not to
exceed $118,750 in a form approved by the City Attorney, attached as Exhibit “A.”
Section 3. Authorizes and directs the City Manager, or designee, to execute all other
documents, certifications and/or assurances as may be required by the FAA and take
all other action necessary or appropriate to carry out the purposes of this Resolution
including expenditure of grant and matching funds.
