Briefing
2. Initiative Workgroups Presentation – Governance Subcommittee
 Mr. Feely presented the following workgroup structure to the executive
subcommittee:
o The governance subcommittee suggested that board members be assigned
to workgroups based on their areas of interest. Board Member Chris
McMullan will be asked if he would like to join the museum advocacy
workgroup. Each workgroup would have a maximum of six board members.
o The workgroups would work through the following subcommittees as
needed:
1. Fundraising strategy – finance subcommittee
2. Museum advocacy – executive subcommittee
3. Tumbleweed Ranch – governance subcommittee
4. Marketing strategy – no assigned subcommittee, Board Member Jacki
Ryan would lead
o KPIs would be developed by each workgroup and tracked in LiveBinder. Each
workgroup would present once per quarter at a board meeting, following this
schedule:
1. January – fundraising strategy
2. February – museum advocacy
3. March – marketing strategy
4. Twice a year – Tumbleweed Ranch
o The workgroup will develop the strategy, and the board will implement the
strategy together.
 It was determined that Mr. Feely would put together a list of instructions and
present the idea to the board.
3. Discuss Possibility of Spring Fundraising Event
 Museum Manager Jody Crago shared that there was not any money set aside for
this event from the Chandler Historical Society (CHS). The CHS requested two items:
purchase of the temporary exhibit walls and a touchscreen about the CHS, which
both occurred. CHS supporters have also been invited to Museum fundraising
events.
 Mr. Feely reviewed that there was money set aside for other purposes in the budget.
 Mr. Feely suggested that this idea be discussed in the fundraising workgroup. He
also shared that if an idea does not align with one of the four strategic workgroups,
then it does not fit within the Foundation’s strategic priorities and should not be a
focus of the Foundation.
4. Schedule Future Executive Subcommittee Meetings
Page 2 of 4

 Mr. Crago shared that staff would like to move the executive subcommittee
meetings to Tuesdays on the same weeks and times. The next meeting will be
scheduled for Tuesday, October 20 at 2 pm.
 This will be on the action agenda for the next executive subcommittee meeting.
5. Agenda Items for October 6, 2026 Chandler Museum Foundation Board Meeting
 Consent Agenda – Approve Minutes
 Initiative Workgroups Presentation
 Board Chair’s Report
 Museum Manager’s Report
6. Museum Manager's Report
 The CCA gallery will reopen around October 5 for the Lurking exhibit opening.
Damage to the CCA roof has affected the opening date.
 The store committee met today. There were suggestions for both store locations,
and there will be new items for the holidays.
 There was an additional water leak in collections storage. It was due to a new
problem rather than a repeating issue. Staff are working with facilities to create a
pool liner type solution to encourage water to go where it is supposed to go in the
event of a leak.
 The next round of interviews for the Education and Program Coordinator position
will be during the first few days of October. There are two local candidates and two
out of state candidates. If a candidate is not selected, another search will be
initiated.
 There are two upcoming events:
o Office of Collecting and Design
o Our Stories – Dr. Jen Gray will present on Frank Lloyd Wright’s Lost Desert
Masterpiece. It is being promoted with the Chandler Public Library and
Taliesin West.
 Materials for the Ocatilla cabin construction will arrive and begin next week. This is
the first time it will ever be reconstructed. After the exhibition, the cabin will likely
be repurposed for other display purposes.
 For the Ocatilla exhibition, there will be Frank Lloyd Wright merchandise and a
catalog in the store.
Member Comments
 The executive subcommittee had a positive meeting with the City Manager.
