Re: Electrical District No. 7 – Cancellation of 2026-27 Election
Dear Ms. Medaris:
As you are aware, if an election that is to be held pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes
Title 15, Title 48 or § 16-822, and the total number of persons who file a nomination petition
for a candidate and the number of persons who file a nomination paper for a write-in candidate
as prescribed by chapter 3, articles 2 and 3 of Title 16 is less than or equal to the number of
positions to be filled at the election for which the nomination petition or nomination paper is
filed, the County Board of Supervisors may cancel the election.
The final day for candidate nomination papers for Electrical District No. 7 of Maricopa
County (the “District”) directors’ election was Friday, September 25, 2026. As there are only
two (2) board seats up for election this year, and only two (2) candidate petitions were filed
for these positions, the District hereby requests that the Board of Supervisors cancel the
January 9, 2027, directors’ election. The positions of Director and Secretary/Treasurer for the
District are up for election this year. David Justice has filed a nomination paper for the position
of Director, and R.T. Selwyn Justice has filed a nomination paper for the position of
Secretary/Treasurer. A copy of each candidate’s nomination paper is enclosed.
Please place this matter on the agenda for next month’s formal Board of Supervisors’
meeting, which we understand will be held on October 21, 2026. Feel free to reach out to our
