City Council Consent Agenda Item VII.C COMMUNICATION Court Enhancement Fund To: Mayor Thomas L. Schoaf and Members of the City Council From: Paige Peterson, Assistant City Manager / Director of Finance Through: Matthew Williams, City Manager Meeting Date: 10/21/2026 Presenter: Paige Peterson, Asst. City Mgr./Finance Director RECOMMENDED MOTION: MOVE TO APPROVE THE CLOSING OF THE CHECKING ACCOUNT WITH US BANK FOR THE COURT ENHANCEMENT FUND BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: Several years ago, the Finance Department established a separate checking account with U.S. Bank for the Court Enhancement Fund. Staff has determined that maintaining a separate bank account is no longer necessary, as the fund is already tracked independently within the City's financial system. The Court Enhancement Fund has its own designated fund in the financial records, which provides adequate segregation from the General Fund and other City funds. To improve cash management and maximize investment earnings, staff recommends closing the separate checking account and transferring the funds to the City's investment account. Funds can then be transferred to the operating checking account as needed to support Court Enhancement Fund expenditures. As of August 31, 2026, the balance in the Court Enhancement Fund checking account was $66,370.24. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval. FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact.
