Following the amendments, Haylee Mosher moved to approve the amended September 16, 2026 meeting minutes, and Savannah Sanchez seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. 1 3. Team Building Exercises Members will be assigned one of eight issues affecting the city. Once each group receives its assigned issue, members will have approximately three minutes to develop a reasonable solution and propose amendments. Each group will then create a poster presenting its solution. Posters should include images, titles, and colorful designs. Groups will have 10 minutes to complete their posters with a five-minute extension provided, for a total of 15 minutes. A notable example was Haylee Mosher and Lena’s Erickson’s “Clean for Green” Community service project, which involved decorating trash cans with murals to encourage greater public use and promote cleanliness. The Murals would be created by volunteers to ensure low costs. Their proposal includes visiting a park once a month to remove trash and ensure that trash cans remain in good condition. Haylee Mosher and Lena Erickson won by the majority vote for their project. 4. Upcoming Events Discussion The Halloween Carnival Sign-Up sheet is available in Google Sheets for members to enter their names and select their preferred volunteer positions. All Faith Community Service offers an opportunity to earn community service hours by handing out food. Council Members are encouraged to accumulate community service hours to improve their chances of being selected to attend the trip to Washington, D.C. At Cotten Fest, members can assist with crafts and interact with children participating in Craft Activities. In December, members can also volunteer to hand out candy at Glow on Monroe. 5. Next Teambuilding Activity Discussion Damian and Haylee volunteered to organize the team-building activity for the next council gathering. 6. Comments from the Buckeye Youth Councilmembers Members can email or text BYC Assistant Jaden if all volunteer positions for the Halloween Carnival are filled. Members can also contact Suzanne Esh in Community Services to become a Carnival Ambassador. Savannah proposed creating a google classroom for BYC to keep everything organized, and Jaden states that he would look into the idea. Jaden also reminded members not to wait until the day before the Halloween Carnival to sign up for volunteer opportunities. 7. Events Discussion Lena Erickson Proposes the idea of hosting a resume workshop, which the council enthusiastically supported. Members may share their ideas with Lena during the break. Those who wish to stay may use the time to plan upcoming events. Dylan Jimenez also discussed an opportunity at Mirna’s Place, where members would be able to volunteer from October 12 to October 13. The Event will run from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and breakfast and lunch will be provided. 8. Adjournment There being no further business to discuss, Lena Erickson adjourned the meeting at 7:20 PM. _______________________________ Lena Erickson, Chair 1 ATTEST: _______________________________ Dylan Jimenez, Secretary I hereby certify that the foregoing minutes are a true and correct copy of the Buckeye Youth Council Meeting held on October 7, 2026.
