Briefing
2. Funding Request from the Quilt Show
 Museum Manager Jody Crago shared that when the Vision Gallery came under the
Museum’s management, operational funds were not received as part of the transfer.
Mr. Crago asked the finance subcommittee to consider allowing the quilt show
revenue to pass through the Foundation to the Museum, so the Museum could pay
the juror fee for the quilt show.
 Every year, there is a quilt show. Applicants are charged $20. Museum Management
Assistant Dani Schulze shared that in the past three years, the revenue from the
applications has been over $700 each year. The juror is paid $600.
 Mrs. Ryan asked why the juror position was not a volunteer position. Museum
Operations Manager Peter Bugg shared that a quality juror can encourage better
work to be submitted along with the desire to pay people for their work.
 Mr. Herriman believed that the request was logical, and the finance subcommittee
determined that the request could be made to the full board.
3. Funding Request from the Art Social Program
 The Art Social Program is a Vision Kids-type program for adults. It is a paid program,
where the fee covers the art teacher and materials.
 Mr. Crago requested that the revenue from the past fiscal year of $1,420 be used to
put back into the class.
 The finance subcommittee discussed review metrics. Mr. Crago suggested that
classes could be cancelled if there is low registration. Mr. Bugg shared that
programming may change in the future based on a review process.
 The finance subcommittee determined that the request could be made to the full
board.
4. Museum Manager’s Report
 The Museum received a grant from SRP in the amount of $3,500 to fund half of the
staffing needs for Vision Kids.
 The Paul Harvey Foundation donated $5,000 towards future exhibitions.
 The executive subcommittee approved some Museum funding requests to send to
the full board:
i. The Museum Store revenue to support the next signature exhibition – over
$10,000
ii. The Museum Rental Program revenue to support a pre-K program – over
$7,000
iii. The executive subcommittee requested a sign that indicated that support was
given by the Chandler Museum Foundation.
 There have been some facilities struggles:
i. Air conditioning was out in the Price House for over three weeks. The Museum
has gone through three units in the last eight to ten years. There will be

physical changes to the office space to try to mediate this issue. The unit has
been replaced.
ii. There was a condenser water leak in collections storage. There will be a
meeting next week to address the issue.
 A donation for a wheelchair was received. It is on-site with City and Risk approved
procedures.
 SHOF agreed to support a new touchscreen TV for $5,500 and a temporary
exhibition for $1,200. Next year, SHOF agreed to fund an additional section of the
temporary exhibition.
 The first round of the Education and Public Program Coordinator interviews has
been completed. The top six candidates will have interviews on Monday. The top
two candidates will likely come out to the Museum campus in the future. The
Museum may offset travel expenses through a small stipend.
 The Visual Arts Specialist candidates have completed Spark interviews. The next
round will move forward shortly.
 Representative Greg Stanton visited the Museum to see the Being Eddie Basha
exhibition, and he enjoyed the exhibition.
 The Victor Hugo public art piece that was originally located in AJ Chandler Park has
been relocated to the Museum campus. The Arts Commission paid for the move.
Member Comments
 The Museum Program Associate – Marketing Kiersten Edgett is doing great. Mx. Edgett
has begun advertising for The Office of Collecting, taken photos of Representative Stanton’s
visit, and written press releases.
o Mr. Askey asked if there would be a marketing metrics report. Mr. Crago stated that
a report will happen in the future and clarified that there is a City marketing budget
for Mx. Edgett to use.
