The VeroVision Mail Screener is the only wide-field of view, hyperspectral imaging-based
device designed specifically for detecting concealed illicit chemical compounds and cutting
agents within postal mail. No other like products serving the same purpose or function as the
VeroVision Mail Screener are available for purchase. ChemImage owns all the
intellectual property pertaining to the Mail Screener, which is protected by a portfolio of
twenty-nine (29) patents, as well as proprietary software, signature libraries, and
documentation. ChemImage owns the VeroVision® trademark and owns all copyrights
attendant to the system.
I have attached additional documentation regarding the technical specifics of the mail screener.
SEARCH
MC1-349-A states: Any request by a Using Agency that a Procurement be restricted to one potential Contractor shall be accompanied by
an explanation as to why no other would be suitable or acceptable to meet the need. The Using Agency requesting sole source

Thorough internet search, as well as research into the company/vendor who has provided the
Office with several "TruNarc" portable narcotics scanners. No other company has a product
this large, capable of drug detection at such a rapid pace. I participated in a sales meeting,
and reviewed the sole-source material provided by the company which further shows that they
are the only company producing something like this.

Attached are the specificatio. ns and sole source justification for the VeroVision Mail Screener.
There are no other vendors producing a product akin to this, so there are no further estimates I
can provide. Amount is listed as NTE $325,000 to cover taxes, additional shipping or other
incidentals that might need to be added.

service as a sole source procurement.
