Jefferson, 10th Floor Phoenix, AZ 85003, with the following members present: Jack Sellers, Chairman, District 1; Bill Gates, Vice Chairman, District 3 (remote); Clint Hickman, Supervisor, District 4 (remote); Steve Gallardo, Supervisor, District 5 (remote). Absent: Steve Chucri, Supervisor, District 2. Also present: Juanita Garza, Clerk; Joy Rich, County Manager (remote); Andrea Cummings, Legal Counsel (remote); Maria Ceaglske, Minutes Coordinator. 1. EXECUTIVE SESSION Vote to convene in Executive Session to consider the items on the Executive Agenda dated Thursday, May 13, 2021, for Board of Supervisors and relevant Special Districts pursuant to the statutory authority listed for each item. Pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-431.02(D), notice is hereby given that an emergency session of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors was held May 13, 2021, at approximately 4:00 pm at 301 W Jefferson – 10th floor, Phoenix, AZ,85003. The meeting was held with members attending either telephonically or in person. Andrea Cummings, Legal Counsel, stated that the emergency was due to the need to get legal advice regarding the Senate seeking a hearing and press event on Tuesday, May 18th to discuss unfounded allegations against the County. These allegations were brought by the inexperienced technology personnel with whom the Senate has contracted to review the election. These reckless allegations have and are causing confusion and agitation at the State Legislature. Chairman Jack Sellers stated at the emergency Executive session, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors may consider: Legal Advice re: recent communication and accusations from the Arizona Senate regarding the November 3, 2020 election; and Board responsibilities and authority re: elections, election equipment and ballots, subpoena compliance, and litigation.
