Re: North Mesa Judicial Precinct
Dear Board Members:
For the last six and a half years, I've had the pleasure of serving as the Justice of the
Peace for the North Mesa Judicial Precinct. During this time, we have had a competent
and professional staff and I believe we have served the public well.
While in the legislature, I attempted to achieve some justice on a macro level. I never felt
very successful in that effort. As a justice of the peace, I have been able to see that
justice was achieved on a micro, or individual level. That has been a great honor for me.
For much of our community their only contact with government is with the justice courts.
I have always tried to make sure that defendants have felt that they were fairly treated and
that they had "their day in court." Hopefully that has been accomplished.
As I approach my 71' birthday, I have concluded that it is time for me to retire. Please
consider this my notice to retire at the end of this September. I will consider September
3U n (Nth as my last day of employment with Maricopa County.
I thank you and the people of Maricopa County, and particularly those of the North Mesa
Judicial Precinct, for the opportunity I've had to serve.
