AMENDMENT No. 1
TO
INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT
BETWEEN
MARICOPA COUNTY
ADMINISTERED BY ITS
HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT
AND
HIGLEY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
I. Maricopa County, by and through the Maricopa County Human Services Department (“County”) and Higley
Unified School District (“District”) entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement on or about September 6,
2016 (“Agreement”). The Agreement term began August 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019. The Agreement
contains an option to extend the Agreement for two additional 3-year terms, upon written approval by the
Parties. The District and the County are collectively referred to herein as the “Parties” and individually as a
“Party.”
The purpose of the Agreement is to establish a process in which services are provided to preschool children,
including children with disabilities as defined in A.R.S. §15-761, ages three years old to kindergarten eligible
five-year-olds, in compliance with federal and State laws and regulations, and in accordance with Higley
Unified School District policy, and Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007 (42 U.S.C. §§ 9801,
et seq.), by referring eligible children to the County’s Head Start program and the Head Start program shall
refer eligible children to the District.
II. The Parties agree to enter into this Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement (“Amendment”) to amend the
Agreement as follows, (Amendment No. 1, renewal option #1)
A. Extend the Agreement term retroactively beginning July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020.
This Amendment is subject to A.R.S. §38-511. The foregoing paragraphs contain all the changes made by this
Amendment. All other terms and conditions of the original Agreement remain the same and in full force and effect as
approved and amended.
