Jefferson, 10th Floor and safe communities” Phoenix, AZ 85003 BOARD OF SUPERVISORS The Board of Supervisors of Maricopa County, Phoenix, Arizona, convened in Informal Session at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at the Sullivan Conference Room, 301 W. Jefferson, 10th Floor, Phoenix, AZ, 85003, with the following members present: Bill Gates, Chairman, District 3; Clint Hickman, Vice Chairman, District 4 (via phone); Jack Sellers, District 1; Steve Chucri, District 2; and Steve Gallardo, District 5 (via phone). Also present: Fran McCarroll, Clerk of the Board; Joy Rich, County Manager; and Andrea Cummings, Legal Counsel. Minutes compiled by Maria Ceaglske, Minutes Coordinator. 1. EXECUTIVE SESSION Vote to convene in Executive Session to consider the items on the Special Executive Agenda dated February 13, 2019, for Board of Supervisors and relevant Special Districts pursuant to the statutory authority listed for each item. Motion to approve by Supervisor Gallardo, seconded by Supervisor Sellers Ayes: Sellers, Chucri, Gates, Hickman, Gallardo MEETING RECESSED Chairman Gates recessed executive session. OPEN SESSION RECONVENED Chairman Gates reconvened open session to consider the following agenda item. Special Meeting Minutes Wednesday, February 13, 2019 Page 2 of 2 2. AMEND SETTLEMENT DOCUMENTS REGARDING THE APRIL COPELAND CASE CV2017-001506 Approve an addendum to the settlement between Maricopa County and the Plaintiffs in the April Copeland et al vs. Maricopa County case, CV2017-001506. The addendum will add information and clarify the settlement funding as it relates to Ms. Copeland’s current Medicare status. (C-75-19-010-S-01) Motion made by Supervisor Gallardo, seconded by Supervisor Sellers to approve with the following two contingencies: 1. The final wording of the Addendum Document will be contingent upon final approval by the County Attorney’s Office. 2. The approval of the Board of Supervisors is contingent upon presentation of the addendum being fully executed by Plaintiffs and their counsel.
