le program has identified several sites in need of minor facility improvements that include paint, sink
and storage unit replacements. Taft is in need of an additional shade structure and artificial turf to
facilitate wheel chair access and support outdoor play for children with limited mobility.
The MCHSD RED reception desk is in need of minor repair via removal of a glass barrier that impedes
direct communication with parents and resurfacing of the countertop. Repairs will include the addition of
two intake spaces in the lobby. The program proposes to paint, update floors and outdoor signage to
create a welcoming environment for families and staff.

A critical component to ensuring the program provides high quality services is identifying prospective
budget needs to effectively provide for updated equipment and facility improvements. Maricopa County
HSD, EED strongly advocates for the approval of the requested facility improvements and supplies to
support the continuous implementation of high quality care and education and current best practices. The
need for an updated spectrum of educational materials and technology to meet specific leaning objectives
negatively impacts teaching practices and childrens' learning when resources are limited.
Although, the program has sustained a level of services that meets or exceeds OHS Performance
Standards teaching staff have utilized classroom supplies and materials that are in need of continuous

replacement, such dramatic play equipment and project study books. The program utilized scheduling
strategies to share limited equipment and resources for children and it created an inefficient use of
teacher's time that delayed the implementation of some early learning experiences. However, the
program has been proactive in modifying processes that identify aged equipment that may reach its end of
service.
The success of skill acquisition is highly dependent on the effective utilization of available and relevant
materials and technology to support individualized activities and curriculum fidelity. The program
appreciates your consideration of our request for facility improvements and instructional materials and is
confident that it will further enhance early learning experiences.
Sincerely,
Eve Del Real
