Grant No. 09HP00105
Budget period: 09/01/2018 to 08/31/2019
Subject: Carry Over Request
Dear Program Specialists,
The Maricopa County Head Start program anticipates not expending the
complete EHS- Expansion (Grant No.09HP00105) budget for March 2017—
August 2018. We are requesting carry- over of unobligated balances for
$122,800 in Operating Funds. The Head Start Policy Council reviewed and
approved this funding amendment at its October 29, 2018 meeting.
The Early Head Start- Child Care Partnership (EHS- CC) grant award was
received in March of 2017. The program added childcare partners over the
past 18 months. This has led to generated savings from expenses related to
direct services to children. Enrollment of children began in December of
2017. We currently have 88 children enrolled and are working diligently to
continue our progress toward meeting our full enrollment.
While the program has been working closely with partners to ensure each
site is safe and ready for enrollment and teachers are ready to provide
excellent care and education, we are still working with two partners, Against
All Odds and Beautiful Oasis toward completing facility improvements.

With approval of carry- over, we can complete the planned and needed
project as follows:
Against All Odds -18704 E Chandler Heights Rd, Queen Creek, 85142
Against All Odds is the last partnership site pending licensure. The
program identified additional facility improvements needed to complete
licensure that includes indoor classroom water line, playground shade,
structures and safety surfacing. The classroom is also in need of a laptop
to enter daily observations and appropriate documentation
