RESOLUTION OF THE MARICOPA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS DELEGATING TO
THE MARICOPA COUNTY MANAGER AUTHORITY TO FILL AND MANAGE THE
POSITIONS OF COUNTY ENGINEER, PUBLIC DEFENDER, MEDICAL EXAMINER, AND
PUBLIC FIDUCIARY FOR MARICOPA COUNTY
WHEREAS, the Arizona Legislature has adopted statutes which allows the Board of Supervisors
of every County to appoint a County Engineer (A.R.S. §11-561), Public Defender (A.R.S. §11-
581), Medical Examiner (A.R.S. §11-592), and Public Fiduciary (A.R.S. §14-5601); and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors for Maricopa County (Board), have created the positions
of County Engineer, Public Defender, Medical Examiner, and Public Fiduciary; and
WHEREAS, in the exercise of its statutory duties, the Board has determined it is efficient that,
having established the position of County Engineer, Public Defender, Medical Examiner, and
Public Fiduciary, the County Manager of Maricopa County appointed by the Board of
Supervisors of Maricopa County shall have the responsibility to manage personnel, including the
authority to fill the position of County Engineer, Public Defender, Medical Examiner, and Public
Fiduciary and to evaluate, discipline and remove the persons filling these positions, all as the
County Manager shall determine.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors for Maricopa County
does hereby grant to the County Manager of Maricopa County the power and authority to
manage personnel, including the authority to fill the positions of County Engineer, Public
Defender, Medical Examiner, and Public Fiduciary and to evaluate, discipline and remove the
persons filling these positions, all as the County Manager shall determine.
