SALT RIVER PIMA-MARICOPA INDIAN COMMUNITY 10005 E. Osborn Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85256 / Phone 480-362-7520 / 12% Gaming Contributions Application Date of Application: July 17, 2018 Organization Name: New Life Center Contact Person: Mynah Mhoon, CEO Email Address: mmhoon@newlifectr.org Phone: (623) 932-4404 Organization Mailing Address: PO Box 5005, Goodyear, AZ 85338 Project Name: Children's and Outreach Programs Grant Award Request: $94,936 Please provide a brief description of the project being submitted to the 12% SRPMIC Grant program. New Life Center is requesting funding to support its Outreach and Children's programs. Both programs are critical pieces within the breadth of services New Life Center provides to survivors of domestic violence and their children. Services are provided to survivors through New Life Center's domestic violence shelter and mobile advocacy-based services. Children's Program Approximately 70% of the residents in New Life Center's residential shelter program are children of domestic violence survivors who sought safety, services and respite via the shelter program. While adult survivors are residing in shelter with their children, New Life Center's Children's Program staff tailor services to the children in shelter based on the administration and results of two evidence-based assessments; the Child Report of Post-Traumatic Stress and the Parent Report of Post-Traumatic Stress. Children are engaged in individualized case management and support groups. In addition to celebrating individual child accomplishments, additional activities are planned with a focus on fun and in the spirit of children being children. Outreach Program New Life Center's Outreach Program provides mobile-based advocacy services to survivors of domestic violence, residing in the West Valley, and who are not residents of the shelter program. With domestic violence affecting 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men (CDC, 2010), the majority of survivors never enter shelter, yet are still in need of support services, education and referrals. These survivors are the focus of New Life Center's Outreach Program. Mobile Advocates provide a broad array of services including, but not limited to: safety planning, court advocacy, lay legal advocacy, and education to survivors that they work with. Additionally, the Outreach Program has meaningful partnerships with a number of other agencies in order to best meet the needs of survivors in the West Valley. Some of those partnerships include: the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence, Southwest Family Advocacy Center and the Arizona Association of Community Health Centers to name a few. Funding from this grant will be used to support the salaries of the Children's Program Supervisor and Mobile Advocacy Supervisor for coordination of program services. Beginning Date of Project: October 1, 2018 End Date of Project: September 30, 2019 Geographic Area to be served: Maricopa County with a focus on the West Valley cities.
