Facility improvements to our warehouse Paz de Cristo’s public facility, located at 424 West Broadway, provides food, clothing, showers, AZ I.D.’s and other resources to serve and empower the unemployed, under-employed and homeless in the East Valley. The facility receives approximately 7,000 visits each month from homeless, unemployed, under employed and under-served individuals. Our warehouse stores and facilitates freezers, coolers and storage for approximately 700,000 pounds of food per year. We are committed to ensuring our facilities are sufficiently secure to provide safety to our food and our guests. Our warehouse walls are damaged and require repair and additional insulation to improve food safety and energy efficiency. We will utilize the funding to replace and repair warehouse walls. We have an estimate to remove and replace the damage wall, replace the insulation and add framing, new insulation and drywall for a total of $36, 750. Facility improvements to our dining room Meals are served in a congregate setting on location, in our open air dining room. Our goal is to enclose the space, add doors, air conditioning units and a small office space. This will allow for a secure environment, eliminate the challenges of fluctuating Arizona temperatures reaching well over 100 degrees during summer months. Enclosure will provide a multipurpose space when meals are not in service, and most importantly convenient access to our Community Navigators, and homeless court proceedings held monthly. We have an estimate to complete this project for $150,000. We are working with a local foundation to provide $100,000 of this cost. Our request is for an additional $50,000 from the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
