In preparation for our upcoming Meeting with you November r 2018 we want to provide information we
would like you to consider In our quest to become a Water Delivery District,
This water user association has been in place for a long time, but never formally a Water District.
Increased pressure on our irrigation system has required us to step up, at an increasingly accelerated
pace, to address concerns of our subdivision and ensure water delivery,
As such:
Since late 2017 we've become more organized and have put formal communication processes in
place:
• conducting meetings to get input and consensus to move forward to protect our irrigation system.
• forming a stewardship Committee of six members, representing 10% of the property ownership.
• putting up a Facebook page.
• establishing a gmall account specifically for the purpose of communicating to everyone.
Our system is roughly 63 years old:
• costs are escalating material prices are much more than in the 80's and 90's
• the need for repair is coming at a faster pace, especially as plants have matured and roots are
getting into the system at an ever Increasing rate.
Managing finances is becoming more complex:
• in 1995 the annual expense was $1000, predominantly for the repair of gates.
• in 2014 the cost were roughly $4000, for pipe repair and maintenance
• in 2017 it was $7000, again predominantly for the repair and maintenance of pipes
• collecting money Is hard work and done completely by volunteers
• our irrigator also found it Mutt to collect fully when he would do small repair and maintenance
In recent years.
• many seniors who have done the volunteer work are no longer able to help manage the affairs of
the system
• younger folks are moving into the subdivision, many of whom work and have families, and need
the assistance of having a formal process a Water District provides.
We would greatly appreciate your support in allowing us to take our petition to the residents of this
association so that we might become a Water District,
