of the application and impact statement regarding the formation of the Waddell Fire
District.

forward at an August 15th public hearing.

ORIGINAL
RESOLUTION # 1819-003
A RESOLUTION OF THE BUCKEYE VALLEY FIRE DISTRICT
BOARD REGARDING THE PROPOSED WADDELL FIRE &
MEDICAL DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, notice has been received by the Buckeye Valley Fire District
regarding a proposed Waddell Fire & Medical District that would have boundaries of
Peoria Avenue on the north, Bethany Home Road on the south, 195th Avenue on the
west, and Cotton Lane on the east;
WHEREAS, the proposed board of directors of the Waddell Fire & Medical
District, which are all full-time employees of the Arizona Fire and Medical District, has
submitted a rudimentary impact statement for consideration by the Maricopa County
Board of Supervisors;
WHEREAS, the map of the proposed Waddell Fire & Medical District identifies
the Surprise Fire and Medical Department Fire Station 307 and a Buckeye Valley Fire
District fire station as the closest fire stations to provide service delivery for the
proposed fire district;
WHEREAS, the impact statement does not delineate a timeline for providing
service delivery, construction of a fire station, purchase of fire apparatus, or which
agencies the proposed Waddell Fire & Medical District would rely upon for interim
service delivery;
WHEREAS, the current private fire protection service provider intends to
cease operations within eight (8) months if, and when, the proposed Waddell Fire &
Medical District is approved; and
WHEREAS, the proposal lacks sufficient information and detail necessary for
the Buckeye Valley Fire District to determine the full impact on its Fire & Medical
Department, however, what information is provided suggests that the impact may be
substantial and place an undue burden on all surrounding jurisdictions to provide
service delivery.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Buckeye Valley Fire District
as follows:
1. Due to the cursory nature of the proposal which omits any definitive details as
to how the proposed district will provide service without relying primarily on
surrounding jurisdictions, including the Buckeye Valley Fire District, the
Buckeye Valley Fire District is unable to support the formation of the proposed
fire district at this time.
2. Therefore, the Buckeye Valley Fire District opposes the formation of the
Waddell Fire & Medical District as proposed until such time as said proposal
is supported by a comprehensive realistic plan which demonstrates that the
district will be viable and not unduly burden, or rely upon, surrounding
jurisdictions to provide service within the district.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 'a(' day of —XL', tk- , 2018.
