RE: Parcel 130-36-001C
Dear Mr. Palma,
Thank you for contacting us that parcel 130-36-00 IC, which is adjacent to our "Girl's Ranch"
property at 8204 East Monterey Way, Scottsdale, is under consideration to be sold.
We are concerned about the sale and eventual use of the property because we serve a vulnerable
population of girls at Girl's Ranch. 1-fere is a very brief description of what we do at Girl's Ranch:
Girl's Ranch meets the needs of adolescent girls who have suffered trauma related to abuse,
neglect, substance use, victimization and emotional issues, as well as those in need of safe shelter,
supportive environment and a place to heal. Pregnant and parenting teens with children are at an
even greater disadvantage, so the Girl's Ranch program offers these adolescent women a promising
opportunity—one that fosters their independence and builds self-confidence away from the
instability of growing up in unsafe environments or multiple child-serving agencies. Girl's Ranch
serves girls under the age of 18 or girls over 18 years old that have signed a voluntary Department
of Child Safety placement agreement, who require unique accommodations and support that many
shelters and group home placements are unable to provide.
We want the Board of Supervisors to know the population we serve and the services we provide
at our property so that that can be considered when approving or denying the sale of parcel I 30-
36-00 IC. If the intended use of the parcel were something that could hinder the girls that reside at
Girls Ranch, then we would of course be opposed to the sale of the parcel.
Again, thank you for contacting us and thank you for considering our concerns. Please don't
hesitate to contact me if you need additional information.
Sincerely,
Rod Kemp, CFO
