Dear Ms. Baker:
The Maricopa County Adult Probation Department received supplemental SOTIPS funding in order to
provide additional data collection and data entry in support of the SOTIPS evaluation. A part-time
Probation Officer (on-call) was to be hired for the proposed activities. For administrative reasons, such as
the state training requirements for probation officers, it will be more expeditious and practical to make the
grant-funded position a part-time Management Analyst (on-call) position.
The job duties of the Management Analyst will be to collect and input data in support of the project
evaluation, and especially to run and format criminal history information.
The Department intends to hire a former (retired) probation officer for the Management Analyst position;
the capabilities and competencies for the proposal work and the individual's access to criminal history
and other data systems will remain the same as originally proposed.
The position of Management Analyst hires in at $21.45 per hour. As this is a lower pay scale than
Probation Officer ($23.01), the employee would potentially be able to provide approximately 1,958 hours
of service rather than the 1,825 hours originally proposed, given the same amount of funding for
Personnel ($41,993 in the supplemental award).
Approval is requested to change the job position from Probation Officer (at $23.0 1/hr.) to Management
Analyst (at $21.4S/hr.)
