WOOLSEY FLOOD PROTECTION DISTRICT
CANCELLING ELECTION OF OCTOBER 04, 2017
TFREAS, Woolsey Flood Protection District is a duly created special district in
Maricopd. County (the "District"); and

WHEREAS, pursuant to A.R.S. § 16-401(A), in any election that is to be held pursuant to
Title 15 Or Title 48 of the Arizona Revised Statutes, if the total of the number of pers -Ons who file
a nomination petition for a candidate and the number of persons who file a nomination paper for
a write-4 candidate is less than or equal to the number of positions to be filled at the election for
which th6 nomination petition or nomination paper is filed, the county board of supervisors may
cancel the election and appoint the person or persons who filed the nomination petition or
norninadon paper to fill the position for the temi of office for which the candidate was
nominatJd; and
WHEREAS, the District is scheduled for an election on October 04, 2017 and each of the
following person or persons, have filed a nominating petition for election to the governing board
of the District, and are the only persons to have done so for the vacant board position(s):
Marvin John
Gary Wood
WHEREAS, the election is an uncontested election and cancellation of the election
would result in substantial savings for taxpayers in avoiding costs associated with the election for
the governing board of the District;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the District that
1. The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors be requested that the election scheduled for
October 04, 2017 be canceled pursuant to authority granted the Board of Supervisors.
2. The following person(s) be appointed to fill the position of governing board member(s)
of the District for a term of four years: Marvin John and Gary Wood.
3. Because no other nomination petitions for a candidate and no nomination papers for a
write-in candidate have been filed to fill the position for which the election is to be held, the
position is t deemed vacant and shall be filled in accordance with laws governing the filling of the
