Jefferson, 10th Floor Phoenix, AZ 85003 BOARD OF SUPERVISORS The Board of Supervisors of Maricopa County, Phoenix, Arizona, convened in Special Session at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, in the Sullivan Conference Room, 301 W. Jefferson, 10th Floor, Phoenix, AZ 85003, with the following members present: Denny Barney, Chairman, District 1 (via phone and entered late); Steve Chucri, Vice Chairman, District 2 (chaired the meeting); Bill Gates, District 3; Steve Gallardo, District 5. Absent: Clint Hickman, District 4. Also present: Fran McCarroll, Clerk of the Board; Joy Rich, County Manager; and Andrea Cummings, Deputy County Attorney. EXECUTIVE SESSION Vote to convene in Executive Session to consider the items on the Special Executive Agenda dated July 26, 2017, for Board of Supervisors and relevant Special Districts pursuant to the statutory authority listed for each item. Motion to approve by Supervisor Gates, seconded by Supervisor Gallardo Ayes: Chucri, Gates, Gallardo Absent: Hickman, Barney RECONVENE After discussion on Executive Session item #1, Vice Chairman Chucri reconvened the meeting in Open Session. (Chairman Barney had entered the meeting via phone during Executive Session.) OPEN SESSION Board of Supervisors 2. CONFLICT WAIVER REQUEST BY JONES, SKELTON & HOCHULI Take action as directed in Executive Session (July 26, 2017) regarding a waiver of conflict of interest for Jones, Skelton & Hochuli. (C-06-18-021-M-00) Special Meeting Minutes Wednesday, July 26, 2017 Page 2 of 2 Supervisor Gates made the following motion which was seconded by Supervisor Gallardo: Motion to approve a request for a waiver of potential conflict of interest for Jones, Skelton & Hochuli which seeks to represent North American Elite Insurance Company as it pertains to its insured’s, Trinity Highway Products, potential liability in the matter of Hranek v. Trinity Highway Products, Maricopa County, et al., case number, CV2015-05149. This waiver is for this matter only and is not intended to be an express or implied waiver of any other conflict which currently exists in any other matters or any other potential conflicts which may arise in the future in any other matter. Ayes: Barney, Chucri, Gates, Gallardo Absent: Hickman RECONVENE Vice Chairman Chucri reconvened the meeting in Executive Session.
