AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE
INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT
BETWEEN
MARICOPA COUNTY
ADMINISTERED BY ITS
HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT
AND
MESA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
I. Maricopa County by and through the Maricopa County Human Services Department (“County”) and
Mesa Unified School District ( “District”) entered into a non-financial Intergovernmental Agreement
(“Agreement”) on or about August 23, 2016 for the non-exclusive use of classroom space and
playground facilities at Lowell Elementary School located at 920 E. Broadway Road, Mesa,
Arizona(“School”) for the County’s Head Start program. The District and the County may be referred
to herein collectively, as the “Parties” and individually, as a “Party.”
II. The Parties wish to amend the Agreement as follows:
A. Modify the Agreement from a non-financial to a financial Agreement.
B. Pursuant to the Facilities section of the Agreement Appendix, Paragraph G. Renovations:
i. The County has determined that several renovations are required in the Head Start
classroom at the Schoolare required to meet Head Start and/or State Child Care
Licensing Regulations;
ii. The District has determined that the costs for the renovations must be paid for by the
County;
iii. The District shall contract with a vendor to make necessary renovations to meet Head
Start program Standards;
iv. The renovations to the Head Start utilized classroom shall include:
a) Installation of 2 sinks
b) Installation of new flooring and
c) Painting of walls
C. The Parties agree that the County shall pay the Cost of the Renovations and that the
renovation cost shall not exceed $20,000.
III. This Amendment is subject to A.R.S. §38-511. The foregoing paragraphs, contain all the changes made
by this Amendment. All other terms and conditions of the original agreement remain the same and in
full force and effect as approved and amended.
