Helped Envision and Drive TCGA
The Cancer Genome Atlas
(TCGA) project was inspired
by and built on the success of
IGC’s Expression Project for
Oncology (expO)
In collaboration with the
National Cancer Institute, IGC
served as the founding
Biospecimen Core Repository
(BCR) and primary Tissue
Source Site Network for The
Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA)
project.
$74,400,000 in funding to IGC
Many of the unique DNA &
RNA extraction and high-
throughput techniques were
developed at IGC and
transitioned into Paradigm

Paradigm Diagnostics Overview
§ The Paradigm Cancer Diagnostic (PCDx) was jointly developed as
a non-profit joint venture from August 2012 through May of 2016 by
$27.3 million contributed by the University of Michigan Health
System and IGC expertise and leadership:
o PCDx is the premier test to identify the best cancer treatments
to enable progression free survival
§ Paradigm’s Rapid Development:
o Groundbreaking independent prospective clinical study
demonstrating the clinical utility of PCDx significantly improving
progression free survival published on July 15, 2016
o 2016 commercial testing exceeded 1,000 patients and
approached $4M in revenue including biopharma services.
o Receiving over $2,500 / patient from payors and Medicare
(compared to $1,200 for Foundation One)
o Consolidated to the Phoenix Bioscience Center in March 2016
o Transitioned to a for-profit on June 1, 2016 to fund growth
o $7M Series B Almost Fully Subscribed
• Commencing Sales Volume Increase
• Accelerating Registry Collaborations

The Paradigm Cancer Diagnostic (PCDx):
Next Generation Sequencing Assay
} Fast: Clinical report delivered in 3 to 5
business days ensures continuity and
elevation of clinical care
} Accurate: Average depth of coverage is
>5,000x (less false positives and less
false negatives) on 5% tumor.
} Comprehensive: Analysis includes next
generation sequencing (NGS) for
mutations, gene fusions, copy number
variations, mRNA expression and
optional IHC for protein pathways &
immune-checkpoint analysis
} Clinically Proven: 76 + 12 combination
therapies, NGS-based genomic analysis
enables the significant multiplexing of
biomarker targets. Supported by
prospective clinical data.

Summary of Findings:
Most of the extraordinary responders used treatments identified by RNA.
43% treated with genomically guided therapy attained a PFS ratio ≥1.3 versus 5% treated with non-genomically guided therapy (p<0.0001).

Registry Initiated
§ 700 patients
o Revenue generating cases
ordered as part of standard of care
o $20K initiation
I see this as the future of oncology… I would
o $252 per patient love to be involved at every level in the
development to provide the clinical perspective.
o $2,500 for publication
o Average $284 / patient -Janakiraman Subramanian, MD

Updates
§ expO and TCGA were unprecedented success. Next steps
o Biospecimen and knowledge redistribution through consulting (IGC as public utility)
o Translational clinical diagnostics
§ Medical School and the Molecular Profiling Institute success. Next steps
o Paradigm Diagnostics – the next generation of translational cancer testing
o Paradigm Registry: Payor funded crowd sourced research collaboration impacting
patient care
§ Maricopa funding has been essential
o To assist with slim overhead rates on federal funding
• Couldn’t have done expO or TCGA without the support
• Currently supporting the NCI’s Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium (CP TAC)
• Funding collections and outcomes from collaborating hospitals and for new grants
o Helps maintain IGC in the Phoenix Bioscience Center
• Where we continue to be a magnet for biotech and innovation

IGC Strategic Directions
§ Continue to Expand IGC’s Role as a
Public Utility:
o Redistribution of Large Well Characterized
Cancer Biorepositories
• Not a biospecimen jail
o Driving Scientific, Medical and Economic
Impact
§ Continue to Grow IGC as a Biosciences
Innovation Core:
o Collaborating closely with Maricopa
County partners: ACA, ASU, AZ
Oncology, Banner, Sonora Quest, Others
o Driving Paradigm’s growth
o ASU related initiatives
o Opportunistic programs
