RE: MCLEAPS Student Placement Agreement
Addendum No. 6
Dear Dr. Crow:
The Maricopa County Leadership and Education Advancing Public Service
(MCLEAPS) Internship Program is preparing to select students for the spring 2017
semester. The MCLEAPS Internship Program is administered through the master
Student Placement Agreement in place between Maricopa County and the Arizona
Board of Regents, for and on behalf of Arizona State University (collectively, the
“Parties”), approved by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors on April 23, 2014
(C-31-14-029-3-00) (the “Student Placement Agreement”) and which the Parties agree
remains in full force and effect.
In consideration of the mutual covenants and agreement contained in the Student
Placement Agreement, the Parties hereby enter into this sixth letter addendum
(“Addendum No. 6”) for the purpose of ensuring all parties are in accord with the
following agreements for the spring 2017 semester, with respect to the MCLEAPS
Internship Program:
Arizona State University agrees to:
1. Preclude advisors or professors from requiring outside assignments or class
attendance during the semester the intern is assigned to Maricopa County, without
the knowledge and consent of the MCLEAPS Intern Coordinator.
2. Pay the ASU tuition and University fees (this excludes any course or program fees
associated with a particular degree program) for a number of students not to
exceed the previous year’s level.
3. Select and recommend those applicants found to be most qualified for the
program. The number of applicants shall be determined during the interview
process.
Maricopa County agrees to:
1. Provide a stipend of $4,700 to all interns in the MCLEAPS Internship Program.
2. Provide an orientation session for interns.
3. Provide seminars for the interns.

4. Provide the University Intern Coordinator with a mid-semester performance
evaluation for each intern.
5. Provide the University Intern Coordinator with a final evaluation for each intern
that includes:
a. A paper or project prepared by the intern reflecting the intern’s experience.
b. A performance evaluation by the intern’s immediate supervisor.
6. Accommodate conferences between interns and the University Intern Coordinator.
7. Ensure that each Student executes the Acknowledgement attached as Exhibit A.
The Parties agree to this Addendum No. 6. The Parties further agree and reaffirm that
no other terms or conditions of the above mentioned master Student Placement
Agreement not hereby otherwise modified or amended shall be negated or changed as
a result of this Addendum. In this event of a conflict between the Student Placement
Agreement and any portion of this Addendum, the terms of the Student Placement
Agreement shall prevail.
If this meets with your approval, please so designate by signing and returning one
copy of this letter to Ms. Fran McCarroll, Clerk of the Board, Maricopa County.
Sincerely,
Clint Hickman, Chairman
Maricopa County Board of Supervisors
