The purpose of this letter is to transmit the RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt
Organizations Act) Racketeering Monies Quarterly Report to the County Board of Supervisors i
accordance with SB1170, Ch. 40.
Effective July 3, 2015, revised legislation requires that "Racketeering monies received by cities,
town and counties are to be reported quarterly to its City Council (cities and towns) or Board of
Supervisors (counties) in a form prescribed and approved by ACJS and the Joint Legislative
Budget Committee."
The El Mirage Police Department prepares a Forfeitures Monies Quarterly Report providing
details of its individual agency activities by the 15 th of the month following the end of each
quarter. On July 14th, 2016 the report was sent to Christina Roberts, RICO Administrator, at the
Maricopa County Attorney's Office (MCAO). MCAO then provides a consolidated report to the
Arizona Criminal Justice Commission. In addition, the report was sent to the City of El Mirage
City Manager, Mayor, and City Council as required by SB1170, Ch. 40.
Attached for your information is the RICO Forfeiture Monies First Quarter Report. Activities
for the period of July 1, 2016 through September 30, 2016 included: attendance at the
International Association of Police Chiefs Conference in San Diego, California, $2,511; the
Arizona Homicide Investigators Association Training in Las Vegas, Nevada, $1,005; and the
Problem-Oriented Policing Conference in Tempe, Arizona, $500.
