Narrative
Please structure your proposal to provide the following information in the order indicated. Provide the narrative in
paragraph form in the text field provided. Please be thorough but strive for brevity.
1. Briefly describe the organization’s mission, history and goals.
The Arians Family Foundation was created in 2013 by Arizona Cardinals Head Coach Bruce Arians and his wife
Christine Arians for reasons dear to their hearts. Christine worked for years as a family-law attorney, or as she
describes, a broken-family attorney. She began working with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) to help
ensure that children who are involved in the Court system, as a result of abuse or neglected by their families,
receive the help they need.
2. If the organization is a non-profit 501c(3), please describe your relationship with the municipality including past
and present support, whether it be through partnerships, collaborations, in-kind contributions, grants, tax-based
funding or other. If the organization is a municipality governmental sub-division please enter the text “Not
applicable.”
Bruce Arians is head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, which have had a long standing relationship with the Gila
River Indian community.
3. Describe the proposed project and planned goals and activities.
This will be the 4th Annual Arizona Celebrity Golf Classic . The goal is to raise both funds and awareness for Court
Apointed Advocates of Maricopa County. The activities include the opening Gala with concert, auctions, golf
tournament and post-golf reception.
4. Describe how the proposed project satisfies one or more of the priority funding areas identified by the Gila River
Indian Community.
This project will raise funds to support CASA of Maricopa County which is currently managing over 14,000
children in the Maricopa County court system due to neglect, abuse, welfare or abandonment. The money
raised will provide education to volunteers to help these children thus increasing public safety.
5. Identify the needs/problems to be addressed, target population and number of people to be served by the
project.
There are over 14,000 abused and neglect children in Maricopa County – enough to fill the ASU Wells Fargo
Arena to capacity. The Arians Family Foundation partners with Voices for CASA children to: Empower Advocates
– Our team is dedicated to ensuring that CASA of Maricopa County has the capacity to recruit, train and retain
CASA volunteers. Create Opportunities: We create focused programs designed to lessen the overwhelming
impact that comes with being placed in foster care system. Drive Awareness – We bring awareness to the

community of the roader challeges facig Arizona’s children ad the role the Court Appointed Special Advocate
(CASA).
6. Define the project as a new or continuing program.
It’s an annual event. 2017 will be the Fourth Annual event.
7. Provide a brief timeline including start and finish dates. Indicate if the timeline is flexible.
The event is scheduled for March 2017. We are flexible with the dates.
8. Identify other organizations, partners or funders participating in the project and their roles.
Voices for CASA Children is a non-profit 501c3 volunteer-driven organizarion focusd on three program areas:
CASA Program Support, CASA Child Enrichment and Child Welfare Advocacy. They participate, support and are
beneficiaries.
9. Would you be able to implement the proposed plan if your organization received partial funding for this project?
Yes.
10. Describe your plan for project sustainability beyond the grant period. If this is a program/project previously
funded by the Gila River Indian Community describe efforts made towards the previously described
sustainability plan.
It has never been funded by the Gila River Indian Community. AFF partners with community business and
individuals to continue to provide funding to voices for CASA in order for the program to continue helping
children in the community. In 2015, the Salt River Pima Community supported the event and it was held at the
Talking Stick Resort. Our goal is to establish a partnership with the Gila River Community where we can hold the
event at the Gila River Casino Resort & Wild Horse Pass/Whirlwind Golf Club
11. Describe your plan to document progress and results.
The plan is to continue to grow the Arians Family Foundation and to bring awareness to the needs of foster
children.
12. Indicate any application to and/or awards made by a tribe other than the Gila River Indian Community for state
shared revenues for this and any other project. If this information is included in a separate attachment, please

Project Budget Detail
Please provide a narrative description for each of the project budget items listed on the previous page. Include the
dollar figure and how it was derived.
1. Essentially, we are asking the Gila River Community to partner with the Arians Family Foundation and grant $150,000
to asssit the Foundation in covering event expenses. In turn, this would allow the Arians Family Foundation to donate a
larger sum of the funds raised to CASA.
2. The event invites celebrities from the entertainment world as well as athletes and coaches to participate. Having a
celebrity presence attracts potential sponsors of the event. The Foundation covers all expenses for the celebrities,
athletes and coaches as well as top sponsors (hotel rooms, catered meals, concert performance, etc.)
3. The event also includes a golf tournament so the Foundation covers all golf course related expenses for the event.
4. The Arains Family Foundation anticipates raising around $550,000 (includes the grant amount) with of 70% being
donated to CASA.
