February XX, 2016 Mr. Andrew McGilvray Executive Secretary Foreign Trade Zones Board U.S. Department of Commerce 1401 Constitution Avenue, NW Room 2111 Washington, D.C. 20230 RE: Foreign Trade Zone – Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI)/Project Seattle User Driven Site at PV303, Goodyear, AZ 85338 – Parcel Numbers 501-02-357 and 501-02-355 Dear Mr. McGilvray: Maricopa County submits this letter to inform you of the County’s full support of the proposed FTZ designation for Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI)/Project Seattle as a new site of the Greater Maricopa Foreign Trade Zone (GMFTZ) No. 277. Our County is fully supportive of the GMFTZ Foreign Trade Zone project which includes a Tax Policy maintained by the City of Goodyear, Arizona. Our County will be protected via this Tax Policy from losing any taxes currently collected. Thus, Maricopa County expresses “no-objection” to the proposed FTZ designation and are aware that as an activated user of the FTZ, the designated property will be reclassified as a Class 6 property. We support the application for inclusion of REI’s facility as an FTZ site within the Greater Maricopa Foreign Trade Zone #277. We are pleased that REI chose this site at the PV303 business park which will bring new jobs and infrastructure investment. Your approval of their application is greatly appreciated as it will help bring jobs to this community. Sincerely,
