The Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation respectfully requests support for the D-backs Race Against Cancer. In April 2016, the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation will host its 4 th Annual D- backs Race Against Cancer at Chase Field. The D-backs Race Against Cancer is the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation's most popular fundraising event with more than 2000 participants joining the battle against cancer. As the event grows, it becomes more and more apparent that nearly everyone has been touched by cancer. The D-backs Race Against Cancer is an empowering way to "team up" with others in support of those battling the disease. Each year the number of cancer families and survivors grows as word of the inspiring event spreads through our non-profit and community partners. The Wellness Zone had experts from 20 different organizations who answered questions and provided screenings for those in attendance. Corporate support and team participation is increasing with more than 100 teams of all sizes joining in! D-backs Legend Luis Gonzalez hosted a team of cancer warriors in memory of a teen the succumbed to cancer in 2014. Popular D-backs pitcher JJ Putz hosted a team of fans that raised funds to run in honor of a D-backs fan who lost her battle to cancer as well. Runner and walkers come dressed in matching t-shirts, hats, superhero costumes and team apparel to honor their friends and loved ones. To date, more than $500,000 has been contributed in Arizona to support screenings, research and support for families living with this terrible disease. We hope that the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community will continue to support this meaningful, impactful project that is touching the lives of 1000's of Arizonans and their families each year.
