Re: Petition of San Tan Irrigation Board of Directors to Cancel its November 10, 2015
Election

Pursuant to A.R.S. § 16-410, theiBoard of Directors of the San Tan Irrigation District hereby
petitions the MarIcopa County Board of Supervisors to cancel the biennial election currently
scheduled for November 10, 2015. There is only one seat on the San Tan Irrigation District
Board of Directors to be filled atithis election. Only one candidate, Ron Wells, has qualified for
the ballot by filing the required petition. Mr. Wells timely filed on July 31, 2015. A.R,S. § 48-
3011 allows for other candidates to file as late as October 31, 2015, which is the last business
day that Is no less than 10 days prior to the election. No other candidate has filed on or before
the October 31, 2015, deadline. No early voting has occurred in the November 10, 2015
election,
Accordingly, the Board of Directors of the San Tan Irrigation District request that the Maricopa
County Board of Supervisors exercise its authority under A.R.S. § 16-410(A) to cancel the
November 10, 2015, election and appoint Ron Wells to fill the position for the January 1, 2016
to December 31, 2018 term of office for which he was nominated. The notice of the Board of
Director's meeting of November12, 2015, at which the Board voted to request this action based
on the existence of only one candidate for the one open seat and the minutes of that meeting
reflecting the action taken are provided in support of this request.
Please confirm inclusion of this request on the Board of Supervisors' November 2, 2015,
