Pursuant to ARS 48-1012(E) and 16- 401(A), if the total number of persons who file is less than or equal to the number of positions to be filled, the Board of Supervisors may cancel the election and appoint the person or persons who filed the proper paperwork. On June 24, 2015, The Board of Supervisors approved a mail ballot election for the Tonto Hills Domestic Water Improvement District. Subsequently, in the prescribed time periods, the District published Call of Election notices. Two qualified nominees submitted the required documentation for the three open positions. In addition to cancelling the election, we request the Board of Supervisors approve the appointment of the two nominees. The nominees are Ralph Spurgin and Rick Nelson. The Tonto Hills Domestic Water Improvement District Board will appoint a person to fill the third position. We will notify the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors when that appointment is made. The terms will run from January 1, 2016 until December 31, 2019. We understand that this request cannot be acted upon until after August 19.
