Dear Taxpayer:
This is in response to your June 12, 2014, request for information
regarding your tax-exempt status.
Our records indicate that you were recognized as exempt under
section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code in a determination
letter issued in March 1997.
Our records also indicate that you are not a private foundation within
the meaning of section 509(a) of the Code because you are described in
section(s) 509(a)(1) and 170(b)(1)(A)(vi).
Donors may deduct contributions to you as provided in section 170 of
the Code. Bequests, legacies, devises, transfers, or gifts to you or
for your use are deductible for Federal estate and gift tax purposes
if they meet the applicable provisions of sections 2055, 2106, and
2522 of the Code.
Please refer to our website www.irs.gov/eo for information regarding
filing requirements. Specifically, section 6033(j) of the Code
provides that failure to file an annual information return for three
consecutive years results in revocation of tax-exempt status as of
the filing due date of the third return for organizations required to
file. We will publish a list of organizations whose tax-exempt
status was revoked under section 6033(j) of the Code on our website
beginning in early 2011.

Dear Mrs. Castaneda,
On behalf of the individuals and families served by the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center
(SARRC), I am pleased to submit this funding request to the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation Tribal Council
for Web-based Education Tools on Autism.
Established in 1997, SARRC is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit community-based organization with a mission
dedicated to advancing research and providing a lifetime of support for individuals with autism and their
families.
SARRC is requesting a grant in the amount of $25,000 to provide parent education through a new, web-
based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) & Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT) training series. The online
series will provide critical information on evidence-based techniques and teaching methods for families
supporting and caring for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). By offering the option to
attend the training through a webinar, access will be increased to a broader audience including families
in rural areas with limited services, additional caregivers, and fathers (historically fathers are not as
participatory during in-person training programs due to accessibility of trainings and training times).
Families who live at a distance or in rural regions of Arizona often have little to no access to quality
services. The webinar series provides access to quality training while reducing costs associated with
travel. Web-based Education Tools on Autism meets the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation's priority of
Education by providing effective parenting methods, and expanding reach by offering a web-based
alternative to communities that may not have access to quality services.
SARRC developed the program to address the growing need for quality service for all families impacted
by autism and specifically rural and remote populations who do not have access. The program will serve
25 family members throughout the State of Arizona.
At this time, there are no other entities supporting the program and no other applications have been
made or awards granted by other tribes/nations for this particular program. (SARRC has received past
funding from the Gila River Indian Community for its Remote Parent Training Program in 2014.) SARRC
will progress toward sustainability by exploring contracts with insurance companies, private pay options

for families, grants from foundation and corporate donors, and individual donations. To keep the
program viable, SARRC will also utilize unrestricted funds as needed.
The program is anticipated to begin development of the web-based training series in October 2015.
