11. IGA WITH ARIZONA HEALTH CARE COST CONTAINMENT FOR AHCCCS INMATE
HOSPITALIZATION
Approve an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between Arizona Cost Containment System
(AHCCCS) (YH-15-0006-02) and Maricopa County through the Department of Correctional Health
Services, in the not-to-exceed amount of $250,000. The purpose of this Intergovernmental
Agreement is to change language to an agreement that began in 2004 (C-26-05-009-2-00) to
allow incarcerated individuals that are patients in an "off-ward" setting to be covered under
AHCCCS. This Intergovernmental Agreement is effective from October 1, 2014 until September
30, 2015.

for their hospitalization stay. This agreement funds the administrative functions of the claims
payment and eligibility units of AHCCS on a per claim/enrollment basis and pays for one third of
the medical care. This is a cost avoidance for Maricopa County, as Correctional Health Services
would be responsible for 100% of the cost if patients are not approved to be AHCCCS eligible,
