This program teaches offenders cognitive restructuring skills, social skills and problem solving skills. These skills provide probationers new alternatives to criminal behavior. NEED FOR PROGRAM: The Maricopa County Adult Probation Department recognizes gaps in: supervision strategies that target the top risk factors with medium-high and high risk offenders. The availability of cognitive interventions such as T4C is a critical intervention to reduce crime and better prepare probationers for employment and other pro-social activity. Trained probation staff serve as T4C facilitators. Probation staff are effective T4C facilitators with this population. Probationers respond to model and practicing new behaviors throughout the T4C class. ANTICIPATED COORDINATION EFFORTS: A grant from the Administrative Office of the Courts provides some funding for cognitive programs. grant application - JAG regular FYI 5 project narrative Page 1 of 2 2014 LOCAL JAG PROGRAM NARRATIVE PROGRAM EVALUATION: Activity Type Performance Performance Measure Description Data Collection Measure it Direct Service 5 Report the number of participants A)Number of T4C receiving services (enrolled and participants participating in a jail or community receiving services T4 C group) carried over from the previous reporting period WATuniber of NEW T4C participants added(enrolkd and participating in a T4C group) during the reporting period C)Suni = (A+B) PROGRAM TIMELINE: Please complete the following timeline or project plan for this program: GOAL/OBJECTIVE BEGIN PROJECTED AS EVIDENCED BY DATE COMPLETEION DATE Establish additional T4C 5/1/2014 10/31/14 At least 12 new T4C group classes classes started Establish additional T4C 11/1/14 4/30/15 At least 12 new T4C group classes classes started Establish additional T4C 5/1/15 10/31/15 At least 12 new T4C group classes classes started Establish additional T4C 11/1/15 4/30/16 At least 12 new T4c group classes classes started grant application - JAG regular FY15 project narrative Page 2 of 2 2014 JAG Disclosure of Pending Applications Federal or State Solicitation Name/Project Name/Phone/Email for Point of Contact at Funding Agency Name Funding Agency Smart Supervision: Reducing US DOJ/Bureau of Prison Populations, Saving No contact nome/ 1 -877-927-5657/ernoll at Justice Assistance " Money, and Creating Safer JIC@telesishg.com Communities FY 2014 **Note — if both grants are awarded, different Probation Officer facilitators would be assigned to each grant so that funding expenses are totally separated.
